What's the "Two" 12" like? The record store (the only one around here that
would have Gescom) had both "Key Nell" and "Two". I basically chose "Key
Nell" because it came in a bubble-wrap sleeve which was pretty cool looking.
1) Typically crunchy drums mixed in with a fairly boring cello-ish
bassline. It might not be too bad if it weren't repeateded practically
nonstop throughout the entire song. The whole thing is a little too
repetative for my tastes. The choppy, distorted vocal stuff is nice.. but
not enough to keep the song interesting.
2) A little melody in the background. The "drums" sound like big machines
opening and closing. Really nice. The only problem I have is that for
about the first 3-4 minutes, I keep expecting the drums to speed up and get
all crazy.. but they never do. This one has vocals similar to track 1 but
they're used more effectively, I think.
3) A lot like track 2.. but generally faster. They're really into cutting
up vocals distorted vocals on this record..
4) One my top three favorite Autechre songs, definitely. More crunchy
drums but this track actually has a pretty melody to go along with the
abrasive parts. And the melody doesn't feel tacked on either. Everything
is perfectly balanced.. is any other Gescom stuff like this track?
